Lynk & Co 02 (Lynk & Co 02)

2026-09-22 09:40:00

The Lynk & Co 02 stands as a truly epoch-making model series for the brand. Since its debut in 2018 as an ICE-powered coupe SUV, the Lynk & Co 02 has completed a full transition from a conventional internal combustion platform to a dedicated all-electric architecture. As a core product in Lynk & Co's globalisation strategy, its first-generation model established strong brand equity as a "premium sporty SUV" in the ICE era, while the second-generation iteration launched in 2024 achieved a remarkable evolution into a pure electric SUV. As of 2026, the Lynk & Co 02 (badged as the Lynk & Co 02 in export markets, and known as the Lynk & Co Z20 in China) serves as the marque's vanguard in penetrating the global EV arena and championing sustainable mobility.

Model Overview

The Lynk & Co 02 (second-generation / EV version) is positioned as a compact all-electric crossover SUV, measuring approximately 4,460 mm in length, 1,845 mm in width, and 1,573 mm in height, with a 2,755 mm wheelbase. It is defined by its core identities as a "Global Pure Electric Crossover" and a "Community Co-created Model". Key highlights include: a modern, minimalist mecha-inspired styling penned by the Swedish design team, an efficient pure electric powertrain underpinned by Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), and an intelligent cockpit deeply integrated with user feedback via the Co:lab platform. By balancing class-leading aerodynamics with cabin practicality, the model delivers a stylish, eco-friendly, and highly efficient urban mobility solution for global drivers.

Development History

ICE Inception Era (2018–2023): Underpinned by the CMA platform jointly developed by Volvo and Geely, the first-generation Lynk & Co 02 debuted with the positioning of a "high-performance coupe SUV". It introduced the avant-garde "Urban Opposites Aesthetics" and carved out a sporty niche in the compact SUV segment with its punchy 1.5T and 2.0T powertrain options.

EV Transition Era (2024 to Present): In October 2024, Lynk & Co officially unveiled the second-generation 02 as the brand's maiden all-electric model for the European market (badged as the Lynk & Co Z20 in China). This generation completely phased out internal combustion engines in favour of the SEA platform, signalling Lynk & Co's formal shift from a traditional ICE/hybrid portfolio to a dedicated pure EV line-up.

A Product of Community Co-creation (2025–2026): The development of the second-generation Lynk & Co 02 embraced a "community co-creation" philosophy. Through the dedicated Co:lab app, the marque gathered over 6,000 feedback submissions from Lynk & Co owners globally, directly guiding the refinement of the cabin layout, storage solutions, and user interface (UI) to create a true "driver's car shaped by its users".

Market Performance

The Lynk & Co 02 has demonstrated distinct market focuses across its two generations. In the ICE era, it won over young driving enthusiasts with its taut handling and distinctive styling; the EV version, meanwhile, is geared primarily towards European and global new energy vehicle (NEV) markets. Boasting a solid WLTP-rated range of 445 km alongside 150 kW DC fast-charging capability, the premium compact electric crossover not only goes toe-to-toe with rivals like the Tesla Model Y and other established competitors in Europe, but has also earned extensive international media acclaim for its bold design language and high-grade cabin ambiance.

Core Technologies

SEA Pure Electric Architecture: Featuring a rear-motor, rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration paired with a 66 kWh high-performance battery pack, the powertrain produces a peak output of 200 kW (268 hp) and 343 N·m of torque. It accomplishes the 0–100 km/h century sprint in just 5.5 seconds, showcasing punchy electric drive performance.

Aerodynamic Optimisation: The Lynk & Co 02 achieves a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.259 Cd. Every exterior detail, from the flush pop-out door handles to the active front intake grille, has been thoroughly wind-tunnel optimised to maximise aerodynamic efficiency and driving range.

Digital Smart Cockpit: Anchored by a 15.4-inch 2.5K ultra-HD central infotainment display powered by a high-performance computing platform, the system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto alongside an extensive connected ecosystem. Its signature "Infinity Light" interior ambient lighting pulses in sync with music playback, curating an immersive, futuristic in-cabin vibe.

Safety and Comfort: Rooted in Volvo's legendary safety heritage, the vehicle is equipped with 16 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Highway Assist. The seats are upholstered in sustainable recycled PET fabrics, seamlessly blending eco-conscious manufacturing with ergonomic body support.

Future Plans

Lynk & Co will continue to reinforce the 02's standing as the brand's "global EV pioneer". Moving forward, the marque plans to roll out more refined driver assistance algorithms and personalised customisation features via regular over-the-air (OTA) software updates. In tandem with supply chain optimisations, Lynk & Co aims to expand the global production footprint of the 02 and explore further variant specifications tailored to various regional regulatory requirements. While the ICE-powered 02 has officially bowed out, its track-proven chassis tuning pedigree has been deeply ingrained into the handling dynamics of the EV model, ensuring the brand's performance DNA endures in the electric era.
